Antique Victorian Lapis Lazuli Pearl Star Pendant 18ct Gold
A remarkable antique Victorian lapis lazuli pendant, depicting a twelve-pointed star with a large, indigo-blue lapis lazuli cabochon in the centre, surrounded by twelve smaller cabochons, with subtle gold and white specks. They’re set in a warm 18ct yellow gold frame and contrasted against twelve natural pearls, with additional stones chasing up the large bale on top.
Lapis Lazuli translates simply to “Blue Stone” and has been highly prized since ancient times as a stone of power and great wisdom, with its deep blue colouring and speckled gold flecks viewed as a reflection of the stars and the heavens, making it divine.
This is an exceptional Victorian star pendant, dating to the mid-19th Century and is in excellent condition. It’s a striking antique statement piece with a beautiful gallery of blue and white gems that swing from a hinged bale, which is detachable and secured with a gold topper on the back.
