Antique Victorian Scottish Cairngorm Pendant Brooch 18ct Gold
An exquisite antique Scottish pendant/ brooch from the mid-Victorian era (Cira 1860) decorated with five square scissor cut cairngorms (approx. 2ct each) with a sumptuous chocolate brown hue.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity across Britain in the mid-1800s and was influenced by Queen Victoria’s love of the pieces. Cairngorms are a form of Quartz and mined in the Cairngorm mountains, giving them their name. They’re the national gem of Scotland and have ornamented Scottish jewellery and weaponry throughout history.
The piece is modelled in 18ct gold with ornate beading around the edge and intricate Celtic patterning engraved across the front and bale. It’s highly collectable, in excellent condition and would look wonderful pinned to a lapel or hung from a gold chain.
We recommend you insure for £1,900. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
