Antique Victorian Emerald Diamond Brooch Pendant
A fabulous antique Art Nouveau emerald diamond pendant/ brooch, fashioned in silver and 18ct gold. The open-work gallery consists of scrolling, foliate motifs and is crowned with a beautiful natural green emerald in the centre (approx. 0.60ct), with an abundance of glittering old mine cut diamonds spread out across the front (approx. 1.5ct total).
Emerald is the birthstone of May. The Romans considered it to be the sacred stone of the goddess Venus and was said to preserve love and provide hope. Its natural green colouring also makes it a stone of springtime and is associated with eternal love and faithfulness.
This is a stunning Victorian piece, dating to the late 19th Century. It exhibits a gorgeous collection of precious gems and is fitted with a loop and a detachable gold pin and safety chain so it can be worn as a brooch or a pendant depending on the occasion.
We recommend you insure for £4,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
