Antique Victorian Star And Crescent Pearl Necklace 18ct Gold With Box

A gorgeous antique Victorian pearl choker necklace from the late 19th Century, consisting of 18ct gold links, topped with gold pommels and natural pearls, with five star and crescent moons along the bottom, decorated with more bright pearls.

Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century and crescent moons were one popular motif that symbolised change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era. They were often paired with pearls as their spherical shape and exceptional lustre reflect the beauty of the moon and are symbolic of purity, serenity, and loyalty. 

This Victorian pearl necklace is in excellent condition and is held by an engraved box clasp at the end. It’s complete with its original leatherette box, with a luxurious burgundy silk/ velvet interior which has accompanied he necklace faithfully over the years.
