A glorious antique Victorian locket made in Rochdale by jewellers Thomas Lancaster Whipp in the late 1800s. The workmanship is influenced by ancient Etruscan design and features ornate, cannetille metalwork with rope edging, gold beading and a star in the centre, crowned with a bright old cushion cut diamond, weighing approx. 0.22ct.

Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the late 1800s after ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome, beginning a fascination with the style and giving birth to these beautiful pieces which were crafted in the same grand and elaborate fashion.

The piece is modelled in a matt 18ct gold and is fitted with a pin, so it can also be worn as a brooch and a secret locket on the reverse perfect for a small photograph of a loved one.

It’s a rare antique treasure, in pristine condition and is even accompanied by its original leatherette box which has a deep blue velvet interior and the maker’s insignia displayed under the lid.

We recommend you insure for £3,200. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
