A fabulous antique Victorian pendant, built around a large cabochon garnet in the centre, with a second hanging from a dropper below. They both exhibit bright flashes of red from within and are complemented by twinkling rose cut diamonds around the outside and a coiling outer frame, highlighted in a royal blue enamel.

Garnet is the birthstone of January and has been desired throughout history for its strength and blazing crimson-red or cherry-pink flame that glows beneath its dark exterior. It’s considered a stone of the heart and is symbolic of passion and enduring love.

The piece is modelled in 18ct gold and features a small locket concealed at the back that could hold a small photograph or a lock of hair. There is also a memorial inscription on the back of the dropper that reads “Char - 24th June 1863”.

It’s a wonderful piece of antique Victorian jewellery, that was clearly very dear to its original owner and has been beautifully preserved across the centuries. It dates to the mid 19th Century and displays beautiful workmanship and a gorgeous collection of gemstones.

We recommend you insure for £3,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
