ANTIQUE VICTORIAN LOCKET COLLAR NECKLACE SILVER CIRCA 1890
This exquisite Antique late Victorian necklace is fashioned in Silver and features a large locket engraved with beautiful foliate patterns on the front and Ivy leaves on the back which represent an unbreakable bond, such as friendship or marriage, as in the Victorian rhyme 'Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee.'
The locket contains a window and two photographs of finely dressed women in period clothing that must have been very dear to a previous owner and have been beautifully preserved over the years.
It’s a remarkable antique treasure and complete with a wonderful Silver collar made up of fancy articulated links and a spring ring clasp which holds the locket securely around the neck.
