ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MOURNING CROSS PENDANT ETRUSCAN REVIVAL AGATE 18CT GOLD CIRCA 1850
An exquisite Antique mid Victorian Mourning pendant depicting a cross patee made up of four beautiful clear Agates held in an 18ct Yellow Gold setting with wonderful Etruscan inspired metalwork and engraving.
Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the mid 1800s when ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome beginning a fascination with the style and giving birth to these beautiful pieces which were fashioned using the same ancient techniques.
A window locket is set on both sides of the cross displaying beautiful brown plaited hair underneath and was kept as a souvenir by a previous owner to remember a loved one so that a piece of them was always kept close.
It’s a fascinating piece of history and in excellent condition. It would look beautiful on a Gold chain.
We recommend you insure for £1,700. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
