Antique Victorian Scottish Agate Anchor Brooch Silver Circa 1860
A wonderful Antique Scottish Anchor brooch made during the mid Victorian era, Circa 1860. The decorative anchor is inlaid with colourful natural Agate pieces which have been polished and cut to fit the brooches distinctive shape.
Anchor pieces symbolise a person’s strength and stable qualities. They are also considered an image of hope as the dropping of an anchor represents the safe end of a long journey.
The piece is fashioned in Silver and features intricate engraved foliate patterning and a spiralling Silver rope which wraps around the length of the piece.
It is a wonderful design, highly collectable and displays expert craftsmanship.
