Antique Victorian Bangle 18ct Gold With Garnet Locket Dropper
A grand antique Victorian bangle featuring a spiral motif at the front that forms two engraved leaves and coiled vines. A teardrop cabochon garnet also dangles from the bottom and displays a blazing crimson-pink glow and hides a small glass window locket on the reverse that could hold a small photograph or lock of hair.
Garnet is the birthstone of January and has been desired throughout history for its strength and blazing crimson-red or cherry-pink flame that glows beneath its dark exterior. It’s considered a stone of the heart and is symbolic of passion and enduring love.
The band has an ingenious, coiled design with hinges that allow the band to expand and retract around the wrist when worn. It’s modelled in 18ct gold and has developed a lovely smoothness and patina over time.
A unique statement piece dating to the late 19th Century that has remained in excellent condition.
